What is Internet Advertising?
Internet advertising, aka digital advertising, utilizes online platforms, such as the Google and Bing search engines, or Facebook to name a few.
Think of the platforms like different channels on a TV. Your customers use a variety of online places, so you may want to be on several.
How Do Users See Ads?
Users can see ads on mobile devices, or on their tablets, or their PC.
Ads will show on search results pages, or on websites across the internet. Your ads can also appear in smart phone apps, at the bottom of YouTube videos, or on the YouTube page.

What Will Ads Look Like?
Ad formats available are text ads, or image ads, or a combination of both.
You have most likely seen the familiar “text” ads with a headline, some text lines, and a link, on the major search engines and on web pages across the internet.
“Display ads” are also available. These are shown as banners or boxes with images on sites or videos across the internet.
What Does It Cost?
Digital advertising is perfect for small businesses with a tight budget because you can control costs, and only pay for effective ads when you hire a professional to manage your campaign.
I offer advertising campaign setup starting at $200 for a starter campaign! This assumes you have a website to send the person to after they click on your ad.
Your costs will depend upon several factors:
- How many search phrases you want
- How many ads you want to test
- How your website is currently set up to receive customers
- How much competition exists in your market
- How much market share you want to capture
At a starter level, your first month advertising can be as little as $600: That is $200 setup, $100 management and click fees as low as $300*. However, most companies spend several times that amount as they become comfortable and see results.
Monthly management for the campaign can be as little as $90 a month, depending on size of the campaign.
*depending on how much clicks cost for your industry, and how many leads you expect to receive in the month.
Pay for Good Leads
The next investment item after your campaign setup, is how much you want to pay for attracting clicks to your website or calls to your business.
Ads are either set up to be charged on a “Pay Per Click” basis, where your business is charged only when someone clicks your ad, or in some cases, you can elect to be charged for the number of times your ad is shown in the various places, known as impressions.
Each industry will be different as to how much a click costs. High profit businesses will have a higher per click cost in most cases, because of the value of a lead.
We can ask the Google Platform for an estimate on what some search phrases may cost you for clicks, however it can vary.
Some clicks are $1 each, some industries such as attorneys who may get a $30,000 payday off a click are $80 or more.
No Long Term Contract!
Minimum commitment for management is $90 per month, on a month to month agreement. Most businesses will also need to allocate $15 or more per day for clicks.
