Google Advertising comes in a couple of different forms.
1) Search Advertising and/or
2) Display advertising.
Denver Google advertising professional Jon Camrud can advise you on the best method for you. Just call 720-520-0639 to learn more.
Google Search Advertising
The first Google advertising opportunity is with Google’s search advertising. This is where users access Google.com and search for a topic via typing a phrase, or when a user types a phrase into their Chrome browser search bar to find products and services.
The results of this “keyword search” are shown as the first few entries at the top of the Google results page, and down the right-hand column of the page if there are more than a few ads to show.
The user scans through these text ads, reading the titles and short text snippets, and selects the one that seems most related to their search.
When they click on it, they are taken to your website, and you are charged for a click based on your bid amount.
When to Use Google Search Advertising
The Search Advertising method is usually best to capture people who are aware of your industry, and what it offers. You then are able to get in front of them to let them know your specific offering.
An example would be someone selling shoes.
Everybody knows about shoes, and they might be typing a phrase describing what kind of shoes they are looking to buy. Such as running shoes.
If you sold running shoes, we would create a search campaign that included keyword phrases for variations on running shoes so your ad would show.

Google Display Advertising
The second Google advertising opportunity for your business is the Google Display Network. The Display Network is a made up of websites that have agreed to show Google ads.
Google has an advertising platform, called “Google Ads” that we use to identify which sites you may want to advertise. (They also have a version called “Adwords Express” that you want to avoid.)
My job as your Google Ads manager is to create triggers in the Google Ads interface for showing your ads across the Google Display Network on the best sites for you. These ads are shown based on a combination of:
- relevance of your ad to a site topic
- content on the pages where your ad is displayed
- age relevance
- geographic relevance, or
- we can choose specific websites in the network manually
So, you hire a Google advertising professional to set up the network placements, determine which sites have audiences that will respond to your ads, and to manage the bid budgets and make course corrections as needed.
When to Use Google Display Advertising
The Display Network advertising is best for getting in front of customers who are not familiar enough with your industry to know that they be interested in what you have to offer.
An example would be when smart phones first came out.
Nobody knew they had been invented, so nobody was searching for them. Smart phone ads had to be put in front of people to generate interest.
Google advertising methods are available for capturing people at all levels of the selling cycle, from information seeking to finding a place to purchase an item.
