I am Denver PPC Advertising consultant Jon Camrud, and I help small business clients achieve success in this quick and cost effective way to reach local, state and national customers on the internet.
What is PPC Advertising?
Pay Per Click advertising, or PPC Advertising for short, is a form of advertising where the advertiser pays only when their ad is clicked. Each time a user clicks on an advertisement the advertiser is charged a fee. This is essentially a fair method of paying for hot leads.
PPC ads are available on several platforms, including Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
A great aspect of PPC advertising is the statistics that allow me to measure effectiveness of your ads. I can make adjustments at any point to your ad campaigns – that just isn’t possible with traditional advertising.
Are you participating in this form of digital advertising?
PPC ads are ideal for small business advertising, with these primary benefits:
- no long term commitments
- effective with small budgets
- extremely targeted to searches that make you money, and
- they can be paused or accelerated depending on your needs
You have most likely seen the familiar text-ad arrays (example shown next to this paragraph) on the major search engines and on pages across the internet.
But other “display ads” and “video ads”, which are not as recognizable as being PPC ads, may fit into this category.
Those digital ads are shown to customers when the keywords we selected to advertise your business match a user’s search, or for “Display Network Advertising”, the content on the website hosting your ad.
What PPC Advertising Will Do For Your Business
PPC ads allow you to be found on internet searches above natural results. And we can get started in just a fraction of the time that it takes to get your site on page one through SEO marketing. Once your account is set up, it can take as little as a few hours to get you in front of your audience.
Google estimates that each dollar spent on PPC marketing yields, on average, a return on investment of 2x your spend (source). PPC advertising is among the most cost effective direct marketing, because the user is searching for what you are offering.
Therefore, PPC advertising is great for small businesses to be able to compete with larger companies.
You pay the same amount as the large corporations for an ad, and can therefore be seen in the same space as your larger competitor. They can obviously do more of the advertising, because of deeper pockets, but you’ll get there!
The leads are considered “hot” because the people who click on your ad were searching for the product or service they clicked.
As an experienced Denver PPC advertising consultant I can help you with a campaign no matter what your goals:
- Building Brand Awareness
- Driving Online Sales
- Launching a Product or Service
- Increasing Store Traffic
PPC management is offered for either
- a flat monthly fee
- a percentage of your ad spend
- or, on my hourly rate
PPC Advertising Opportunities
For companies in Denver, PPC advertising opportunities are primarily with Google and Microsoft, and can be shown on:
- tablets, or
- desktop computers
PPC Ads are categorized as either Search Advertising or Display Network Advertising.
Search ads, those that show when a keyword phrase is typed into a search engine, are shown as text-ads in search results.
Display Network ads can be shown as lines of text, or as images or videos.
Search Ads are show on the search engine (Google or Microsoft) pages themselves, or on partner search engines. Display Network ads are shown on websites across the internet that have chosen to allow PPC advertising on their pages, including YouTube. Facebook has it’s own ad service that only allows ads to be shown on its own platform. I do not recommend Facebook Advertising.
If all of this is new to you, don’t worry it’s a new frontier for most everyone that is not in the digital marketing business.

Pay Per Click Advertising Q&A
The most common questions PPC companies are asked about PPC advertising are listed below.
You are more than welcome to call Jon at 720-520-0639 for your specific questions.
What does PPC advertising cost?
The first thing to realize about the cost of PPC advertising is that it is an investment more than a cost. Even more so than traditional advertising because we have much more control.
You will have four primary investment areas:
- Strategic Planning
- Initial setup
- Monthly management
- Click fees
I will perform an analysis of cost-to-profit to make sure your campaigns are profitable.
You will be provided with a free estimate after a brief discussion. The amount will be based on the size of your campaign.
You may also have website re-design fees, or the addition of more pages that will address specific phrases that people have searched, so the quality of your website landing pages (the pages that we send customers to after they click on your ads) are optimized.
Because there a limited amount of prominent positions on search engines and most websites, PPC advertising opportunities are bid-oriented. The more you bid for clicks, the better chance you will have to be seen. In theory, the top bidder gets the top position.
In practice this is rarely the case because Google and Microsoft prefer to show the highest quality ads. Formulas determine the quality of ads, and higher quality ads can gain position on higher bids. Part of my job is to make sure your ads and pages are high quality.
Google has more competitive bidding than Microsoft because of the higher volume of users on Google.
An initial investment is in setting up your campaign (and creating a website if you don’t have one) which can be in the neighborhood of $500 for a small campaign, and up to several thousand dollars as campaign sizes increase.
For ongoing investment you will have management fees, and click fees. I suggest looking at a minimum investment of $400 a month.
Please realize that when we set up your campaign(s), the goal is to make more than you spend, called Return on Investment, so in reality, it costs you zero!
A good rule of thumb for advertising is to spend 10-20% of what you hope to make. So, if you want to make $200,000, spend $20,000+ on advertising. Total marketing budgets vary widely by industry, but some are over 50%!
What Do You Charge for Pay Per Click Advertising Management?
I offer very affordable PPC management services for small business owners.
The goal is to make you more money than you are spending, and adjustments are part of that, which is accomplished in the management of your account.
Management fees are either a set monthly (or quarterly amount), or a percentage of your monthly ad-spend. Ultimately, this investment will cost you only as much as is beneficial to you.
How Much Does a Click Cost?
First, you only pay when someone clicks on your ad. Click costs vary by industry, competition, and location, and can vary from a dollar to over $100. We set your price for clicks, based on what will be profitable for you.
Many factors go into the cost, from the size of your campaign to the geographic area you are covering to the competition. Denver clicks may cost more than in suburbs and smaller towns. Digital ads shown nationwide may cost more, similar to national television ads cost more than local ads.
I find you the most affordable and effective advertising and you decide how much you want to spend each month, and can change at any time. Each phrase that we include in your campaign will have it’s own bid amount, based on what that bid is worth to your business.
This makes it perfect for Small Business Advertising.
Where Will My Pay Per Click Advertising Appear?
For Search Ads, they appear alongside or above search results on search engine pages, in sections marked “Sponsored links”.
For Display Ads, they appear on websites that allow Google to show ads. Your ads can appear on a smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer. Together we decide which sites or apps, and devices, are best for your business.
What is Search Advertising?
Search is short for “keyword search”. It is the type of PPC advertising that is shown in response to people seeking information when they talk or type into their phones and computer search interface, such as the Google or Microsoft sites or apps, or via your browser. (A traditional comparison would be when someone uses the yellow pages.)
What is Display Advertising?
Display advertising, when applied to digital advertising, is when the ads we create are displayed on a website, without a person searching directly for it. (A traditional comparison would be ads in a magazine). Some of these are paid per-click, some are paid per-impression count.
How Can I Tell if PPC Advertising is Successful?
I track statistics to determine effectiveness.
It helps to start your campaign with one clear goal in mind. Examples might be
- to increase traffic to your site
- selling a set percentage more, or
- lowering your cost per lead
- Or reaching a sales goal each month
Then, I track your results with tools like the Google Ads interface, and Google Analytics. These are tools that show you what visitors came to your site, and even what they do on your site, and which ads are doing the best job of meeting your goals.
We can see
- How many times each phrase in your campaign triggers ads to be shown
- What position your ad is shown
- How many times people clicked your ad
- How many people took an action, like phoning or filling out a form
- How much each click is costing
- How much each call is costing
- What geographic area customers are in
- And many more.
The number of PPC results statistics rival those of baseball!
