Mobile advertising, on smartphones or tablets, is a great way to attract customers who are in the general vicinity of your business. They are also great for capturing the attention of Millennials.
Google Mobile Ads
Google mobile ads reach the most possible viewers, so you have more options. I am a certified Google Adwords Partner, so you are in good hands when you hire me to handle your mobile advertising campaign.
I have been using the Google Adwords platform since 2004. Of course Google mobile ads weren’t a ‘thing’ back then, because the mobile phone industry was all about flip phones. The advent of the smartphone allowed for more advanced mobile advertising, and when Apps came along the game changed drastically.
I can target users who are surfing websites, or people who are using an app with the Google Adwords mobile ad platform for your business ads.
You Choose the Radius from Your Location
We all have different definitions of local advertising. When you advertise with me, you have the ability to choose the radius around your location – as close as 1 mile, or across your state.
The radius you choose depends on how far away you feel your customers are located. Or if you provide services at your location, how far they may be willing to drive for your services.
Location, Location, Location
The primary strength of mobile advertising is to capture people doing a search on a mobile device near your location.
This is great for brick-and-mortar stores or restaurants. Customers are far more likely to shop at your location after responding if they are “in the neighborhood” at the time of the search.
Google reported in 2017 that 82% of smartphone users were searching for businesses near them. You can be there for them.
A secondary strength is reaching the Millennial market, because Millennials were raised on mobile and are usually just as comfortable using a smartphone as a computer.
Mobile is Great for Attracting Tourists
In Colorado and Northern New Mexico it is important for many businesses to be in front of people on their smartphones searching for things to do, restaurants, tickets, directions, and more.
And we can reach tourists from the time they hit the road until they arrive at your door.
Let’s say you know from past experience that your customers come from Texas. We can place a radius targeting from a point half way between your location and any area of Texas! Or, target the specific cities and towns in Texas you know like to vacation in Colorado.
Or, let’s say you know most of your customers come from locations less than a days drive away. We can set your radius to a 200 mile radius, an easy day’s drive, from your location.

Mobile Advertising To Capture People Without Computers
Remember, not everyone has a computer.
Across that spectrum are people who can’t afford a computer in addition to their mobile, to people who choose to go mobile-only when away from the office. More and more our population is choosing to operate on their mobile device only.
The increasingly large screens on iPhones, Galaxy, and LG models are making it more convenient to go without a computer.
Some of my clients only advertise to mobile devices, while others advertise to all devices.
Your choices for mobile-only ads include either smartphones or tablets, or both. Your budget can be split between the two in any proportion of your spend.
Either smartphones or tablets can be utilized for App advertising.
Adwords Mobile Ads
My favorite platform for creating mobile ads is the Google Adwords mobile network. It allows me to create and monitor your advertising for both mobile and desktop advertising in one platform.
Google’s network is extensive, and it remains the top search engine by a wide margin over Bing.
If you have the budget, I would also suggest putting some towards Bing mobile advertising too. However, if your budget is limited, it is best to stick with Adwords mobile.
Then as you grow your business, you can expand to Bing Ads.
What Types of Mobile Ads are Available?
When people search on their devices, your mobile ad may appear next to search results on Google as a text ad.
Ads are shown across a network of over a million websites and apps, so your mobile ad shows where your customers are… even Gmail!
Did you know that more than half of YouTube views are on mobile devices (according to Google, who owns YouTube). You can do video or ads on other videos.
Mobile App Ads
Universal App Campaigns allow us to promote your app by running mobile ads across the Google network.
